About

Built on both
continents.

Seven-plus years of hands-on delivery in Nigeria and Portugal have shaped a civil engineer who trusts what happens on site as much as what happens on paper and who is now applying that instinct to industrialised, sustainable construction.

Olayiwola Akanmu started on Lagos construction sites in 2017, working his way up from site supervision through project management before relocating to Portugal to pursue an MSc and deepen his focus on sustainable, industrialised construction.

His work spans structural assessment, non-destructive testing, and deep foundation and pile construction, with a consistent thread of cutting rework, defects, and cost through rigorous quality control and clear-eyed contract negotiation.

In Portugal, he's collaborating with HausGrid on modular, Passive House-driven building systems, bringing the field-first discipline of a site technician to the earlier, higher-leverage decisions made at the design and manufacturing stage.

He's bilingual in English and Português, and stays involved in research and mentorship, having previously been recognised as Student Tutor of the Year at the University of Lagos.

Approach

Three ideas that
shape every project.

I.

Site truth first

Drawings describe intent; the site tells you what actually happened. Every assessment starts with direct inspection and non-destructive testing before a single recommendation is made.

II.

Design for fewer surprises

Passive House and modular principles aren't aesthetic choices, they're a way of moving decisions earlier, where they're cheaper to get right and harder to get expensively wrong.

III.

Numbers, not vibes

Rework rates, defect counts, cost savings, record accuracy, every role has been measured against something concrete, not just "went well."
